Federal service for supervision in the sphere of Telecom, information technologies and mass communications (Roskomnadzor) demanded from Google to explain the lock on YouTube for the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in connection with the coronavirus, considering it censorship.
“the Google Guide directed inquiry with the requirement to explain the reason for the removal from YouTube channel of NTV television address of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin to the citizens in pandemic coronavirus”, – stated in the message of Roskomnadzor, which leads “Interfax”.
At the request of Roskomnadzor specified that the video violated part 5 article 29 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation on the prohibition of the Russian censorship.
Roskomnadzor stressed that “in recent years, cases of blocking on global platforms to Russian media, including statements by officials regarding informing citizens on the situation with coronavirus undertaken by the government measures to combat the pandemic.”
“the User agreement and the algorithms of the work of foreign Internet services operating in Russia, must comply with the standards and requirements of the Russian laws, including to eliminate the possibility of censorship,” – said the Agency.
