The first case of death of the patient infected with novel coronavirus infection was recorded in the Smolensk region, reported the press service of Rospotrebnadzor in the region.

"Cases with fatal outcome – one. The infection occurred on the territory of Moscow, arrived in Smolensk already sick, in a serious condition hospitalized in a specialized medical institution. Despite ongoing therapy, the patient remained difficult, compounded by severe comorbid background", – said the press service of the Ministry.
