While Denmark has been paralyzed and virtually shut down during the coronakrisen, is a brutal and bloody conflict between two gangs in the greater copenhagen area has exploded.
In just three weeks, the conflict claimed the lives of two men life, while a third have survived to be shot down on the street. The latest was a 22-year-old man wound up by day in young harris, when his car was riddled by gunfire.
“these are two of the bandegrupperinger, which is based in Copenhagen, who has looked evil in each other. And unfortunately, it has spawned a number of violent attacks – both in the public and the closed space of the last few weeks,” says Mads Helios, acting inspector at the Copenhagen Police.
The first of a number of violent incidents happened on Thursday the 19. march, when there was fired shots at the two residential buildings in Frederiksberg. No one was hurt.
On the evening of Friday the 27. march escalated the conflict tremendously.
Here was a 22-year-old man shot down on the Gadelandet in Husum.
a Few hours later a 24-year-old man run down intentionally on a system of footpaths in Husum in it, the police perceive as a German reprisal for the shooting of the 22-year-old man a few hours prior.
The 22-year-old skudoffer escaped with life in the keep.
The 24-year-old man who was run over, was found dead in an apartment in newport beach a few hours later.
on Wednesday, 8. april led to the conflict in yet another brutal killing. Here sat a 22-year-old man into his car at the Åfløjen in Brønshøj. Shortly after the car was riddled by gunfire in what police perceive as a carefully planned shooting.
the Perpetrators drove then to the Klausdalsbrovej in Herlev, where they put the flugtbilen in the fire. Then they drove from the scene in a dark car.
What is the reason for the conflict is not entirely clear. But due to a number of clashes and killings start the 17. march, the police have introduced a number of visitationszoner in the copenhagen area, which is continuously expanded.
“We introduced visitationszonerne, then we could say that now we were thus relatively confident that there was a conflict,” says Mads Helios.
He could not say exactly why the conflict suddenly escalated so violently.
“In these environments there will always be a little, where they go and test each other, without it necessarily lead to attacks of any kind. It can for example be that you run into in each other’s areas to manifest themselves with his mere presence,” says Mads Helios:
“They go all the time and looking a little to each other, and it changes a little, who is friends and who isn’t. But of course, there is something prior to the conflict, because otherwise you don’t have to and shoots at each other.”
Tuesday was a 31-year-old man stabbed to death at a car park in Northallerton. Although it may be tempting to speculate whether the killing was related to the conflict in and around Copenhagen, it seems not to be the case.
“I can certainly say that in relation to the killing in Køge, denmark on Tuesday, so there is absolutely no evidence to suggest that the things have anything to do with each other,” says Mads Helios.
the Police have in custody a 23-year-old man in four weeks in connection with the killing of 24-year-old man in Husum, who was run down and killed on 27. march.
In connection with the liquidation of the 22-year-old man in Husum on Wednesday, the police had initially imprisoned a man in the case. He is now released, as it does not suggest that he had something with the killing to do.
