The Russian military historical society (RVIA) has published the documents of the Central archive of the Ministry of defense of Russia, devoted to the crimes of the Nazis during the Second world war and the liberation of Europe by the red army. In particular, there are available materials related to the theme of the liberation mission of the red Army in 1944-1945: the declassified documents of the units of the 1st Ukrainian, 1st Belorussian fronts, 60th, 65th armies and other military formations, in which there were testimonies about the crimes of the Nazis in the death camps of Sobibor, Auschwitz, Treblinka, Majdanek, and camps for prisoners of war. Each published document has a summary in English.
“Archives is a national treasure of our country. We have military documents that speak eloquently of how brutally and cold-bloodedly killed people in the Nazi death machine, as Soviet soldiers liberated and rescued the tortured and doomed people,” said the assistant of the President of Russia Chairman of RVIA Vladimir Medinsky. According to him, posted on the website should serve as the so-called “beacons of remembrance” intended “to do everything to the Nazi crimes do not go unpunished”.
Clarifies that RVIA will continue the work on the publication of such documents.
