Flemming Østergaard predict that FC Copenhagen can go to a difficult time in the meeting.
The former FCK-boss fear namely, that the corona-the crisis will have serious consequences for all the Danish Superligaklubber – also the Danish masters.
he says in an interview with the FCK-fanmediet Copenhagen Sundays.
“It is surreal, and if we should concentrate on the Denmark – what it means both financially and on the field for the various clubs – so I am very, very concerned for the first time about the future in general, also for our club F. C. Copenhagen,” says Østergaard, Copenhagen Sundays.
And since the Park Sport & Entertainment – the company behind FCK – according to Flemming Østergaard at the same time can stand in front of the large investments in both Property, development of the Park and the club’s training facility, so it is important that the board not go too much on the defensive, even though it is hard sometimes.
Therefore, I regret Østergaard, to rigmanden Lars Seier Christensen, who last year purchased 22,5% of the shares in Parken Sport & Entertainment, will not have a seat on the board.
There is need for his skills, believes Flemming Østergaard.
“I was glad that Lars Seier invested a lot of money and came in. But I had very much liked that he came in the board. It had been much better. Of course, he keeps himself informed, but I so would like, that he have been in the board of directors and so perhaps held up with too many restaurants, and all sorts of other stuff,” says the ‘Don Ø’ and laughs.
He emphasizes that he does not have insight into the board’s plans, but he expresses himself as ’one of the 15-20 largest shareholders’ of the company.
And so it worries him, whether there is enough sporting insight into the board to make sure that fodbolddelen of the company – therefore I am come unscathed through the crisis.
“What I’m worried about, it is the actions that come as perhaps a little strange. To Skjærbæk (Erik Skjærbæk, a major shareholder, red.) he cares not for football. And it makes Lars. He cares for the sport.”
“I hope that the two agree both about the prospective investment on the sporting side and, of course, to develop the business with the Property in the forefront,” says Flemming Østergaard.
“If we continue to have sporting ambitions that we have seven out of ten times must be Danish masters, so we will have to put us down and say: ‘Is it possible going forward?’. It is now six times? Will FC Midtjylland get into? Will suddenly Brøndby?” says Østergaard, who believes that FCKs status as Scandinavia’s largest football club is threatened.
“If we are to continue to have the amazing record that we have played in Europe in 13 out of 14 times, if we are to continue to play in Europe, which our team is geared to, and also our sporting objective, so we need to be even sharper to buy the right players, but also open the scrotum when it is necessary. Otherwise run it from the us,” warns Flemming Østergaard.
