World Tour-team CCC announces that the riders must go down in salary, and that a large proportion of staff is suspended.

The professional cycling team is quiet at the moment because of coronakrisen, and it marks yet another hold now on the purse.

World Tour-team CCC shall communicate the order Friday that the team’s riders must go down in salary, while a large part of the staff is sent home indefinitely.

“the Decision to make deep cuts has been a painful process, as we had not foreseen a few weeks ago.”

“the economic impact of The Covid-19 has had a drastic impact on our sponsor CCC, and other teams, now we have a lack of cash flow as a result of unforeseen reductions in our sponsorships,” says holdmanager Jim Ochowicz in a message on the team’s website.

the American does not disclose how much the riders must go down in salary, but he promises, however, that the team’s ambition is to return, when the whole coronapandemien is improving, and the cycling season resumed.

“We will do all that is possible, in order to keep the team in this period of time, and we hope to come back strong, when the Covid-19-the situation is improving,” says Jim Ochowicz.

the Other cycling teams have also seen the hard times and recently had Jakob Fuglsang, and colleagues from Astana to accept a pay cut of 30 percent, until there is once again cycling on the program.

Previously also the riders on the Lotto Soudal accepted a salary cut.

The professional cyclists is quite quiet at the moment, where cykelsæsonen is suspended, and the races either cancelled or postponed indefinitely. It has affected all of the spring cycling classics and the big stage race, the Giro d’italia.

All cycling is until further notice suspended until 1. June, and Thursday was Switzerland Around, which would be run from 7. June, suspended.

It is still supposed to this summer’s edition of the Tour de France will be carried out.

the Tour is scheduled to run from 27. June 19. July.
