Denmark wants to continue to host the men deferred the european football championship in the summer of 2021.
It confirms the Dansk Boldspil-Union (DBU) on Friday.
It is DBU, Park, Sport Event Denmark and the Municipality of Copenhagen, who have chosen again to pursue the opportunity to complete the four matches during the deferred EM right to host the event in 2021.
the Successful it again to get værtsskabet to Copenhagen, it will mean three games and a ottendedelsfinale in the Park in the month of June 2021.
Thus said the lord mayor of Copenhagen, Frank Jensen in a joint press release.
“It is a very great desire for Copenhagen to be able to hold EM next summer. EM was an event, we had welcomed in the year, and as we were already far, both with the practical preparations, and as many of us had huge expectations for.”
“Now, need we all to be able to look forward to the party and community, and the summer of 2021 can be a big sportssommer and popular festival in Copenhagen with both the european championship in football and the Tour de France. But it is not home – based, all parties must stretch and flexibility if it is to succeed,” he says.
At Parken Sport & Entertainment says president Bo Rygaard, that he’s betting on, that the formalities go in order with Uefa.
“We will be proud, if it finally managed to get the EURO 2020 to Copenhagen, and that our stadium will form the framework for these historic matches for the Danish football. We hope that it formally goes in order, so we can look forward to the celebration that we had looked forward to in years. That was in the agreement between us and the UEFA taken into account that the tournament could be postponed, but it has of course required some in-depth talk with all parties, before such a large operation as to advance the EM could be managed, and we can go common on. Now we are in the goal with the part and hope to be able to provide all danes with a big sportssommer to look forward to in 2021,” says Bo Rygaard.
The final deadline to apply to get the matches to Denmark runs until 30. april, while the 3. april was the final date to give a commitment again to be considered.
Although Denmark with Friday’s announcement immediately should stand strong, so is DBUs president, Jesper Møller, reluctant to rejoice in the prospect of again having to get the european football championship to Copenhagen.
“It is a historic opportunity to get the EM-finals to Denmark and get four games in Copenhagen, so we can create a big football feast in the whole of Denmark. At DBU we are ready to arrange the four EM-matches in the summer of 2021, but we can’t do it without the unconditional support from our business partners. We are happy for the support, but there is still a lot of work to do, and I’m only sure, when we have a final agreement,” says Jesper Møller in a press release.
