Vuelta a Espana will be run at the scheduled dates and follow the planned route, says the director.

There are no plans to postpone the Vuelta a Espana or change cykelløbets route, even though the coronavirus so far has had implications for virtually all sports in the year.

It says race director Javier Guillen.

– As it looks right now, so remain the Vuelta-the dates, as they are, and we are considering not a race with less than 21 stages, he said to the Spanish newspaper AS, according to AFP.

Rumors are buzzing that the Spanish grand tour, the race could end up being shortened, if the Tour de France had to be postponed, in order to make room for the Giro d’italia, will be moved to the as yet unknown dates from his usual place in may.

But the speculation gives Javier Guillen not much.

– All of this is just speculation, that comes from Italy. We know that it is difficult to combine the race with pre-determined dates, with the other there must be reorganised, so we know that we must be flexible, if it gets updated with a date change, he says.

Javier Guillén believes that it should be a priority to get settled, Tour de France, which is set to start 27. June, when the race according to the Vuelta-the director is “an indispensable part of the sport”.
