Modeskaberen Jørgen Nørgaard is dead. He was 89 years old.
It informs the family of the newspaper Politiken on Thursday.
Jørgen Nørgaard died after a long illness. According to the family, he was among other things, infected with the coronavirus, without that it was the cause of death.
Through the years marked Jørgen Nørgaard himself as both a big modemand and merchant.
In 1958, he opened at the on-site Nørgaard Paa Strøget, which – as the name suggests – a store on Strøget in Copenhagen.
In 1967 he designed the first T-shirt at the on-site. The T-shirt was particularly well-known for its classic striped look.
today it continues the striped blouses and T-shirts, that you associate with the clothing from Jørgen Nørgaard.
Jørgen Nørgaard leaves his wife, Ellen Nørgaard. Together, the couple has four adult children, including tøjdesigneren Mads Nørgaard.
