FC Copenhagen’s players, management and the boston globe took on Tuesday, the first major consequence of the corona-crisis.
They go 20% down in wages in the interim the next two months, and thus they are the first super League club to choose the way, as several european clubs already have taken.
Several other super League clubs, has instead chosen to make use of the government’s stimulus plan.
“It has not been a consideration for us to repatriate the players,” says Stale Solbakken.
And it is there for a reason, for the tripartite agreement only covers up to 23,000 crowns of the salary per month at the same time that the players no longer available for the club.
IN FC Copenhagen, where most of the established førsteholdsspillere earns 250.000 dollars or even a lot more a month, 20 percent pay cuts therefore mean a saving of 50,000 crowns a month. Just on one player.
Therefore confirm Stale Solbakken, that it has just been a part of the consideration for, when FC Copenhagen have looked at a pay cut of 20 percent above the use of the government’s stimulus packages.
In a club where spillerbudgettet – with all what it entails of payroll, transfers and more – sounds of over 150 million. dollars per year, is 20 per cent pay cuts a good help in this time of crisis, as Solbakken don’t know yet, what is of importance for FCK, he says.
“No, and I don’t think that anyone knows. Bo Rygaard and the owners are working with it, and I am informed all the time, and we have a good dialogue. So I come with input to the management on what I think the future will bring. And what I can contribute,” says Solbakken, who, however, spend most time on something completely different.
“My main task, together with the other leaders is to take care of the players. Especially the foreign players, which is in a country that is closed down, and who may have family in countries that are even harder hit than the nordic. Therefore, the træningsgrupper on three and four players actually good in relation to get a social thing. You’re doing something together with others before you to enter and lie under the covers and see episode 254 of one or another series.”
“It must all well, I think. It is foolish to make decisions now, because it all changes all the time. But right now the overall koncernbekymringer, that is for the whole Park Sport & Entertainment. It is the soccer ball part of the. We discuss, and we keep all the time an open dialogue.”
But the dialogue about the economy using Stale Solbakken not so much energy. He bored a little, when he is a part of FC Copenhagen’s small træningsgrupper on træningsanlægget Jens Jessensvej.
“It is not the most hectic schedules I’ve had in my life. It is something else, when we do not play matches, and I’m not going to make the preparations – and also does not have the tension. But at the same time, it is not so strange anyway, because you are bombarded with the news, which makes, that even I think that football is completely irrelevant.”
“It is so tragic what is happening everywhere. It goes so fast and you don’t know what happens the next week or month. The development is really scary. It becomes a bit irrelevant and pointless to sit and analyze the old games or talk football and tactics. You are a little checkmate, I think,” says Stale Solbakken.
