This impressive win marks the Longhorns’ second consecutive 40-point victory, following their previous triumph over Tarleton State with a score of 83-41.
Leading the charge for Texas was Madison Booker, who delivered an outstanding performance with 21 points on 8 of 10 shooting, including a flawless 3-for-3 from beyond the arc, all in just 23 minutes of play. Taylor Jones also made a significant impact, contributing 20 points on 8 of 11 shooting and grabbing six rebounds despite facing foul trouble, limiting her playing time to only 16 minutes. Rori Harmon chipped in with eight points and five assists to help secure the win.
The Longhorns’ defense was a key factor in their victory, holding New Mexico State to 39.5% shooting from the field, including just 3 of 11 from 3-point range. Additionally, Texas dominated the boards, outrebounding the Aggies 38-21, and capitalized on 25 turnovers forced, converting them into 37 points. With a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds and 44 points scored in the paint compared to New Mexico State’s 20, the Longhorns displayed their dominance on both ends of the court.
