A man in Hays County, Randall Mosbey, was recently convicted and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the continuous sexual abuse of a child. The 59-year-old from Kyle was found guilty by a jury and sentenced by a judge on October 18. In addition to the charges of sexual abuse, Mosbey was also convicted of invasive visual recording, a crime he admitted to at the beginning of his trial.
The Hays County Criminal District Attorney’s Office stated that the evidence presented during the trial revealed that Mosbey had been sexually abusing the child for several years, starting when the victim was only 7 years old. Furthermore, the defendant had secretly placed cameras in the victim’s bathroom and bedroom. When law enforcement discovered these hidden cameras, the victim bravely came forward to disclose the years of abuse.
Kelly Higgins, the Hays County DA, emphasized that cases involving the abuse of children are a top priority for their office. She reassured the public that justice will be served to those who harm children, regardless of how much time has passed. The conviction and sentencing of Mosbey demonstrate the commitment of the DA’s office to seeking justice for victims of such heinous crimes.
