The Burnet County Sheriff’s Office is seeking help in locating suspects following an incident at a church on Sunday morning. Deputies were called to the church on North U.S. Highway 281 at around 10:30 a.m. after a member of the safety team reported confronting two suspicious males outside the church, one of whom was carrying a rifle. The safety team member fired multiple rounds, causing the males to flee in a white minivan heading northbound on US 281. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.

Law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, are currently investigating the report of the armed subjects at the Burnet church. The Burnet County Sheriff’s Office has asked anyone with information to contact them at 512-756-8080. They are also seeking any footage of the incident from north-facing cameras near the 2400 block of N. US-281 taken between 3-11 a.m.

In response to the incident, the Lampasas Police Department has increased patrols in the city and at churches as a precautionary measure. They have called in additional staff and supervision to patrol the city and are working with other local law enforcement agencies to ensure readiness to respond to any potential incidents.

The Lampasas Police Department emphasized that there have been no related incidents in or around the city at this time. Both the Burnet County Sheriff’s Office and the Lampasas Police Department are working together to ensure the safety and security of the community.
