Club Eternal, a popular after-hours dance venue located at 207 W. Fourth Street, has announced that it will be taking an “indefinite hiatus” after concluding its events on August 2nd. The organizers made the announcement via Instagram on Wednesday.

To bid farewell to its loyal patrons, Club Eternal will be hosting a series of events leading up to its closure. Tonight, DJ Matthew Shogi will be hosting the weekly Wednesday open decks night. This event, which runs from 10pm to 3am and costs $10 to attend, allows attendees to take turns spinning music every 30 minutes, with no restrictions on genres, BPM, or mood.

On Thursday, Club Eternal will collaborate with Street Future Records to present an ambient/experimental night called Ethereal Sessions. The event will feature music from artists such as JT Whitfield, Patina Lush, XXXXXL, D.Sierto, 73ON, and Dream Days, accompanied by art and lighting installations by Drip Cuts, Amanda Koontz, Shak-Elia, and Street Future.

The final farewell event at Club Eternal will take place on Friday, featuring a performance by DJ Spray who is traveling all the way from Berlin. Provider and Shogi will also be part of the lineup for the night, which will run from 11pm until late. Like the other events of the week, this farewell party is strictly for individuals aged 21 and above and is BYOB.

While the organizers did not provide a specific reason for the hiatus, they expressed their gratitude to the community for their support over the past two years. In their Instagram post, they stated, “Thank you to everyone who supported our mission of providing Austin with a DIY space for underground dance music <3 Without y’all we are nothing more than an empty room with some nice speakers…"As a long-standing independent news source in Austin, The Austin Chronicle has been dedicated to covering the city's political, environmental, and cultural issues for over 40 years.
