Governor João Azevêdo led the State Democratic Budget hearing in the city of Itaporanga, headquarters of the 7th geoadministrative region, on Saturday afternoon. The event gathered over 4,800 people who elected investment priorities for the next budget year. During the meeting, the governor delivered benefits and signed service orders for the region, totaling over R$ 64 million in investments.
The governor opened the plenary at the State Technical School gymnasium by signing a series of service orders, delivering works, and equipment to benefit the 18 municipalities in the Vale do Piancó region. He expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and participation in the democratic process, emphasizing the importance of the ODE in bringing about positive transformations in Paraíba.
Governor Azevêdo highlighted the significance of the Democratic Budget as a tool for the state’s development, emphasizing the government’s commitment to addressing the region’s needs. He announced a significant investment of over R$ 64 million in deliveries and service orders for the Vale do Piancó region, showcasing the government’s respect and dedication to the area.
Among the actions announced during the meeting were the authorization for the renovation and expansion of the Itaporanga District Hospital, the implementation of hemodialysis services at the Piancó General Hospital, and the establishment of a Normal Childbirth Center in Piancó. Additionally, orders were signed for road paving and drainage projects, agreements with several municipalities, and symbolic deliveries of infrastructure projects.
Governor Azevêdo also approved the renovation of three schools in the region, the replacement of water pipelines, technical assistance to local farmers, support for micro-entrepreneurs through the Empreender PB program, and investments in agricultural products for school meals. Moreover, he delivered equipment, vehicles, and resources for public safety in the region, underscoring the government’s commitment to various sectors.
The event was attended by several officials, including the Vice-Governor, state deputies, and secretaries of state, demonstrating a collaborative effort towards inclusive governance and development. Participants engaged in dialogue, highlighted community needs, and emphasized the importance of citizen participation in shaping government policies and initiatives.
One resident, Ana Cristina, representing mothers of autistic children, called for improved services for individuals with autism, stressing the importance of additional resources for treatment centers. Another participant, Luana Maia, advocated for infrastructure improvements in her city, highlighting the need for better transportation and educational facilities.
The priorities identified during the meeting included education, sports, leisure, and road infrastructure, reflecting the community’s focus on key areas for budget allocation in the upcoming year. The discussions and feedback shared during the event will inform the government’s decision-making process and resource allocation to address the region’s most pressing needs.
