Of the original 60 activists according to the police, a small number followed the request to leave the road and alternatively gather on the sidewalk, police spokesman Martin Halweg told the dpa on Saturday. The climate activist group Last Generation said 150 people were involved. The motto of the campaign was “Climate protection is democracy protection”. “The climate catastrophe seriously endangers our democracy,” said a representative of the group, according to the statement.
