At least eleven people died and dozens more were injured in an accident involving a school bus in Indonesia.
As a police spokesman said on Sunday, nine of the fatalities were students who had just graduated from secondary school. The accident occurred on Saturday evening (local time) on the largest Indonesian island of Java.
According to police, the bus was traveling from the city of Depok to the mountain town of Lembang, which is popular with tourists. According to the information, the bus driver suddenly lost control of the vehicle, tipped to the left and collided with a car and three motorcycles. In addition to the nine students, a teacher and a motorcyclist involved in the accident were killed.
Fatal traffic accidents are common in Indonesia. The reasons include many outdated or poorly maintained vehicles and widespread disregard for traffic rules. In April, twelve people died in a collision between a car, a bus and another car in western Java.
