7.11 p.m.: There could be a crash in Baden-Württemberg on Wednesday – the German Weather Service (DWD) considers thunderstorms with severe weather potential to be possible. Floods and high water could occur, a DWD meteorologist said on Tuesday.
The DWD expects some severe thunderstorms with heavy rain of between 25 and 40 liters per square meter per hour. Locally, extremely heavy rain can even fall at 50 liters per square meter per hour. Stormy gusts or squalls can also blow and hail can be up to two centimeters in size.
First of all, people across the southwest need to arm themselves. “It is not yet certain which region is most affected,” said the meteorologist. The previous forecast models are still chaotic.
8:08 a.m.: After lots of sunshine with early summer temperatures, moist air comes from the southwest to North Rhine-Westphalia, which can locally bring thunderstorms with heavy rain. As the German Weather Service (DWD) announced in Essen, heavy rain, small-grain hail and stormy gusts were possible locally in the extreme southwest of the country on Tuesday. Temperatures should rise to a very warm 25 to 29 degrees across the country on Tuesday. For Wednesday, meteorologists from the southwest expect heavy rain and maximum temperatures between 17 degrees in the Eifel and 27 degrees in Mindener Land.
Tuesday, May 14th, 5:30 a.m.: Bathing weather in Berlin and Brandenburg: On Tuesday, sunshine and maximum temperatures of 27 degrees Celsius can be expected all day long. It remains dry and there is a moderate, sometimes fresh wind, as the German Weather Service announced. It will remain clear and dry on Wednesday night. It cools down to nine degrees.
In large parts of Brandenburg there is a high to very high risk of forest fires, as the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Climate Protection reported. Given the extremely high risk of fire, people are urged to avoid anything that could start a fire. According to this, human action is the trigger for more than 90 percent of all forest fires.
7:22 p.m.: Heavy rain during a thunderstorm flooded several streets in Gemmingen in the Heilbronn district on Monday. A police spokesman said that some mud from a field was washed onto the road. Forces from the fire department, among others, are in action. No people were harmed.
12.28 p.m.: The German Weather Service warns of severe thunderstorms with heavy rain and hail. Locally heavy rain of up to 40 liters per square meter in a short period of time as well as stormy gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour and hail up to a diameter of around two centimeters are possible until the evening. There will be clear skies and temperatures of 12 to 7 degrees on Wednesday night. This starts sunny, later clouds move in from the west. According to the meteorologists, it won’t rain. The temperatures reach 23 to 27 degrees, in the mountains 18 to 23 degrees.
Monday also starts with lots of sunshine in Saxony-Anhalt. Blue skies and no rain are forecast for the start of the week, as the German Weather Service announced on Monday. The maximum temperatures are 24 to 26 degrees, in the Harz it is 18 to 23 degrees.
On Tuesday night the sky will remain clear and it will cool down to 8 to 12 degrees. Tuesday will be summery with sunshine and highs of 25 to 28 degrees, in the Harz between 21 and 25 degrees are expected.

In the new week, people in North Rhine-Westphalia will have to prepare for temperatures of up to 29 degrees and a change from sun to rain and thunderstorms. As the German Weather Service (DWD) announced, there may be heavy rain and sometimes strong thunderstorms and hail from Monday afternoon, with maximum temperatures between 22 and 27 degrees. Sunday, May 12, 2024, 10 a.m.: Lots of sun and mild temperatures await Thuringians on Sunday. Clouds are also gathering in the Thuringian Forest, as the German Weather Service (DWD) announced. There is also a slight tendency to showers there, otherwise it stays dry. The maximum values are between 20 and 23 degrees, in the mountains between 17 and 20 degrees. At night the sky will be clear or only slightly cloudy. It cools down to values between 7 and 11 degrees.
The next week will start with a few hours of sunshine, and cumulus clouds will appear in the southern half. It remains dry at temperatures between 23 and 26 degrees. It will be clear on Tuesday night. The temperatures fall to values between 9 and 12 degrees.
