(New York) The Actors and Actresses Guild of America on Wednesday unveiled the list of nominations for its 30th ceremony, celebrating performers from the films Oppenheimer, Barbie and American Fiction – but not Leonardo DiCaprio in Killers of the Flower Moon by Scorsese.

Just like the Golden Globes, the performers of Barbie and Oppenheimer are once again the main finalists of the SAG Awards. The two films each received four nominations, including best ensemble cast. Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are finalists for their performances in Barbie, while Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr. and Emily Blunt received nominations for Oppenheimer.

American Fiction landed three nominations: best ensemble cast, best male actor for Jeffrey Wright and best supporting actor for Sterling K. Brown.

Like those three films, Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon and The Color Purple were up for best ensemble cast, the guild’s highest award.

Notable absence in this list of finalists for best ensemble cast: Poor Things, by Yorgos Lanthimos, which won best comedy/musical film at the Golden Globes on Sunday. The film’s star, Emma Stone, is a finalist for best actress while Willem Dafoe was nominated for best supporting male actor – but not Mark Ruffalo.

May December, a quintessential “actress movie,” starring Julianne Moore and Natalie Portman, was completely ignored – Golden Globe finalist Charles Melton also missed out.

Furthermore, neither Sandra Hüller (Anatomy of a Fall) nor Fantasia Barrino (The Color Purple) received individual nominations.

Barbra Streisand will receive this year’s Guild “Tribute Award.”

This year’s awards follow a grueling 118-day strike by the SAG-AFTRA actors’ guild, which plunged Hollywood into a months-long battle. Remuneration in the era of continuous online broadcasting and artificial intelligence were the main issues in this long conflict.

The SAG Awards are closely watched as “Oscar barometers.” The ceremony will take place on February 24 in Los Angeles and Netflix will stream it live for the first time. Last year’s gala was broadcast on the Netflix YouTube account.

This broadcast will therefore mark one of Netflix’s most notable forays into live programming. The online broadcaster, which has been an awards season force for years, will also be the first to host the Oscars in March.
