Two Canadian films made former President Barack Obama’s list of best films of the year.
These are BlackBerry, by Canadian director Matt Johnson, and Past Lives, by Canadian-Korean filmmaker Celine Song.
The first traces the spectacular rise and catastrophic fall of the iconic laptop. During his presidency, Barack Obama was known to be a loyal BlackBerry user.
Selected for the Golden Globes, Past Lives tells the story of the reunion between two childhood friends confronted with their past feelings.
Every year, Barack Obama shares the list of his favorite films from recent months. Among them, the French drama Anatomy of a Fall, The Holdovers, American Fiction and Air, which particularly marked the former president.
Produced by Higher Ground, the production company founded by Barack and Michelle Obama, Rustin, Leave The World Behind and American Symphony also made the list.
