(Perpignan) The support that a few dozen French cultural figures showed this week for Gérard Depardieu in an open letter has just created a first collateral victim.
A French association which claims to campaign against all forms of abuse inflicted on children announces that it has severed its ties with the famous actor Pierre Richard.
The Les Papillons association, established in Perpignan, indicates in a press release published on social networks that for three years, Pierre Richard has been one of its ambassadors.
The leaders of the association knew of Mr. Richard’s friendship with Gérard Depardieu, born from the films they shot together and from a certain concept of living well. However, they add that there are actions and remarks that cannot be accepted or excused, even in the name of any friendship.
The Les Papillons association considers that the platform in support of Gérard Depardieu signed by Pierre Richard is indecent and that consequently, Mr. Richard, who is 89 years old, is no longer one of its ambassadors.
A recent documentary profiles accusations of sexual misconduct made by 16 women against Gérard Depardieu and shows the actor making lewd remarks and gestures during a 2018 trip to North Korea.
Gérard Depardieu denies any wrongdoing.
