This fall, Joris Gutierrez Garcia became Best Sommelier in Quebec (September), then in Canada.

The man who was also named Best Nose of Quebec in 2017 and 2020 is only 31 years old, but he has been working in restaurants for 15 years.

It was to facilitate his transition from the position of suite attendant to that of waiter at the Au Pied de Cochon restaurant that he decided to take his first sommelier course at the ITHQ.

Joris is currently a sommelier at Club Chasse et Pêche in Montreal and owner of a new wine representation agency, Agence Pirates.

His victory in the Canadian competition gives him access to an attempt to win the title of Best Sommelier of the Americas in 2025.

An avid student and traveler, fond of discoveries and healthy competition, the young man has certainly not finished collecting honors.
