Mexicans do not celebrate Halloween, but El Dia de muertos, the Day of the Dead, on November 1st.
This tradition aims to mark the passing of the seasons and to pay homage to ancestors.
The PAAL organization Share the World has been organizing a Dia de Muertos festival in Montreal since 2017. From October 21 to November 4, it will still be possible this year to attend exhibitions, musical performances and participate in artistic workshops. Participants will be able to learn how to make a typical papier-mâché skull and clay skeletons.
Most activities will take place in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, but also in Rosemont, in the Centre-Sud and in Pointe-Claire. The activities are free, but you must reserve your place.
