Telefilm Canada announced Thursday the second phase of its new film festival funding program. The organization is committed to distributing an additional 1.78 million to 19 Canadian film festivals, for a total of 3.46 million.

This second part includes festivals that will take place between April 1 and September 30, 2024. Among the 19 selected are the Sherbrooke World Cinema Festival, the Fantasia Festival, the Vues d’Afrique International Cinema Festival and the Festival de cinéma of the City of Quebec. Also on the list, the Les Percéides International Film and Art Festival and the Cinéfest Sudbury International Film Festival.

The first part of the program, announced in May, was intended for festivals taking place between October 1, 2023 and March 31, 2024. Twenty-five film festivals were granted an envelope, including the Festival du nouveau cinéma, the Festival international children’s film festival in Montreal and the Rendez-vous Québec Cinéma.
