(Paris) Chemena Kamali has been appointed new creative director of Chloé (Richemont group), the house announced Monday in a press release, welcoming “a significant return” for the brand.
Since 2016, she has been women’s ready-to-wear style director for designer Anthony Vaccarello at Saint Laurent.
She replaces Gabriela Hearst, whose departure was announced by the brand in July.
Chemena Kamali “will present her first pre-collection for Chloé in Paris in January 2024, followed by her fall-winter 2024 collection during Paris Fashion Week in February 2024,” says the brand, which is owned by the Swiss group Richemont.
Born in Germany in 1981, Chemena Kamali “has more than twenty years of experience including a long period at Chloé, where she began her career within the team of Phoebe Philo”, the British stylist, adds the brand.
“I have always had a deep connection with Chloé since the day I walked through its doors, over 20 years ago. This return is both natural and very personal,” said Ms. Kamali, quoted in the press release.
For his part, Riccardo Bellini, CEO of Chloé, assured that “Chemena’s vision, inspired by its unwavering bond with Chloé, will highlight the unique DNA of the House.”
