One hour from Montreal and 45 minutes from Gatineau, this estate of more than 4 acres, whose history began in 1878, charms all guests who are lucky enough to stay there.

“Once upon a time, there was a dynamic and absolutely lit young man. His name was Laflamme, he had the fire of passion for all projects… you see the kind”, describes himself from the outset, with a lot of humor, Pierre Laflamme, who acquired this property with his spouse in the 2000s At the time, it was the Montevilla Resort, which had 14 cabins.

Before buying it, Mr. Laflamme had spotted it in the commercial buildings for sale pages of the Saturday paper version of La Presse, but the place had also attracted the interest of other buyers. “I absolutely fell in love with the house the first time I set foot in it and thought to myself that one day I would live there. When informed of the resale of the estate two years later, he was able to grant his wish.

The original old small house, which measured 25 feet by 25 feet, has had many owners who have developed the place over the years and fashions. When Pierre Laflamme and his spouse bought it, it had been transformed into an inn, and after operating it for a while, the couple decided to stop the commercial part and do some work.

A total of 30 properties share the shores of Lac Charrette, which is exclusively reserved for them. The water is crystal clear, because motorized boats are prohibited. The site also has a swimming pool, tennis courts and several walking trails.

Then, they renovated a large part of their villa, to the delight of their families and friends. Indeed, each of the five bedrooms has an adjoining bathroom. Between 2011 and 2012, they created a 70-foot by 30-foot expansion. “When you like to entertain, it’s practical to have a lot of space and we actually organized our wedding here with David,” continues Pierre Laflamme, who says he is proud of this extension, perfectly integrated into the old house. This is very important to me because we see enlargements that look like cubes; I wanted the whole thing to have a soul to preserve the aesthetic side and respect the history of the house. »

The renovations carried out by the owners therefore provide all the comfort necessary for our current way of life, but do not distort the original style. The old woodwork, exposed beams and majestic stone fireplaces give an exceptional character to the residence. The couple put their whole heart into this area, inside and out, where they planted numerous trees that flourished over time.

Life caused Pierre and his spouse to go their separate ways. They had a great time at Montevilla, but now is the time to make way for the next one. A large family or, like them, a warm couple who love to open their home to others will certainly find what they are looking for. The proximity of the city of Montebello and its services as well as the many sports activities, including golf, make it possible to stay there all year round as well as for holidays.
