Cinema owners want to give people back the taste of “film in theaters”: they are offering all their films next Sunday for the single price of $4.

Members of the Cinema Association of Canada and those of the American association confirmed on Monday that the second National Cinema Day will be held next Sunday.

In Canada, the $4 ticket, plus taxes, will be offered for all films showing in Cineplex or Megaplex cinemas, but also in several independent cinemas, such as Clap and Cartier in Quebec City. This discount will not be offered everywhere: you can consult the list of participating cinemas on the event page.

The American Association of Theater Owners reported that the inaugural National Movie Day last year was the busiest day of the year in a normally quiet period at the end of the month. summer and back to school. Theaters were packed on September 3, 2022, and although owners made less of a markup on ticket prices, they sold plenty of popcorn and soft drinks.

The event is also a way for major studios or small distributors to present to the public the trailers of their next films scheduled for the fall.

According to the Cinema Association of Canada, the event will take place this year in more than 3,000 participating cinemas in North America, or more than 30,000 screens.
