Director Pascal Plante’s third feature film, 34, won four awards at the Fantasia International Film Festival over the weekend, including Best Picture.

Actress Juliette Gariépy scooped the award for best performance; Pascal Plante (Nadia Butterfly) also won Best Screenplay; and Dominique Plante stood out for the best original music for the same feature film.

The Directing Award went to Sam H. Freeman and Ng Choon Ping, for Woman, from the United Kingdom; then its main actor, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, was also hailed with an award for his acting.

“Red Rooms appeals to moviegoers as well as fans of genre and true crime films, which is very promising for its next theatrical release. Pascal Plante’s film is a psychological thriller the likes of which we rarely see in our cinema, and after this warm welcome at Fantasia, we are excited to present it to audiences across Quebec,” said Tim Ringuette, President of ‘Entract Films.

Launched as a world premiere at the Karlovy Vary Festival in the Czech Republic on July 7, Les Chambres rouges will hit theaters across Quebec on August 11.

Created in 1996, Fantasia is the largest genre film festival in North America. It continues until August 9 in theaters in Montreal.
