Nearly 1,500 objects, mostly from great American cinema classics, are auctioned from Wednesday to Friday as part of a gigantic sale organized by Propstore Auction in Los Angeles.
Lots that sold on Wednesday included a replica of the car from Back to the Future ($200,000), the costume worn by Michael Keaton in Batman Returns ($110,000), Mel Gibson’s sword in Valiant Heart ($70,000) and an armor he wore in that same movie ($40,000).
However, collectors have turned their noses up at the Patpod, the iconic Batman motorcycle, whose value was estimated at between $1 and $2 million. They will be able to fall back on the dress worn by actress Carrie Fisher in the Star Wars saga, one of the most prominent lots at this auction, which would also be worth between 1 and 2 million.
Harry Potter fans can get a costume of their hero worn by Daniel Radcliffe, a wand wielded by the latter, and even his letter of admission to Hogwarts. Those of Titanic, a dress worn by Kate Winslet. If you’re more into horror, there’s a cute doll spotted in 1982’s Poltergeist that could be worth up to $400,000, or even, more soberly, a Chucky doll costume valued at a few thousand dollars.
