A few months after the release of a video revealing the secrets of “the biggest stunt in the history of cinema” performed by Tom Cruise for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, the first trailer for the seventh film in the series was launched on Wednesday morning.
Christopher McQuarrie is back behind the camera – he directed the previous two and shot Part Two, scheduled for next year – and is co-writing the screenplay with Erik Jendresen.
Tom Cruise obviously returns in the role of Ethan Hunt, but other agents also return to service. Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames participate again in the mission, in addition to Henry Czerny who played Eugene Kittridge, director of the IMF, in the first film of 1996.
Rebecca Ferguson and Vanessa Kirby are once again in the game, while Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff and Esai Morales join the cast.
Besides the impressive action sequences, the trailer seems to indicate that Ethan Hunt and his team will have to face a nuclear threat and that enemies from the past will resurface.
