Léa Pool, Yan England, Ricardo Trogi and Daniel Roby are among the directors who will obtain funding from the Société de développement des entreprises culturelle (SODEC) for the production of their next film. In all, 14 fiction feature film projects were selected by the organization.
Based on a screenplay by Michel Marc Bouchard, L’habit du hero, by Léa Pool, which talks about the immigration of LGBTQ refugees, is one of the lucky ones.
The same goes for the youth film Fanny Cloutier, directed by Yan England and inspired by the series of books written by Stéphanie Lapointe.
Following the films 1981, 1987 and 1991, 1994-1995 by Ricardo Trogi also receives support from SODEC. This new part of this autobiographical series will focus on the filmmaker’s participation in the Course destination monde and his debut as a director.
Last month, 1994-1995 also received funding from Telefilm Canada, as did Villeneuve, a film by Daniel Roby about the famous racing driver Gilles Villeneuve. This biographical sports drama will in turn receive funding from SODEC.
Other feature films supported include Furies, by Mélanie Charbonneau, Gagne ton Ciel, by Mathieu Denis, and Kaboul, Montréal, by Bachir Bensaddek.
