Do you know the Fairy Godmothers, this organization that offers prom dresses to teenage girls with less financial means? This weekend, it is the return of its flagship event to be held at Pierre-Dupuy school in Montreal. On the program: fitting of dresses and shoes, make-up and hairdressing services…
But now, rare fact, the organization has not filled all the places available this year. The Fairy Godmothers had planned to welcome 400 young girls during the weekend, as before the pandemic. However, so far, they have only received 270 registrations.
“It surprises us a bit,” says Isabelle Corneau, the organization’s marketing and communications manager. “With the current economic environment where everyone is having a bit of a hard time making ends meet, we expected to see more traffic or interest,” she said.
The organization is therefore appealing to graduates in need of financial means who are looking for the prom dress of their dreams: there is still room to register.
The event will take place Saturday and Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Over 2500 dresses available.
