The Minister of Justice Konstantin Chuichenko became the main candidate for the post of chairman of the Accounts Chamber. This is reported by Vedomosti with reference to five sources.
The publication clarifies that it received this information from officials close to the Accounting Chamber, the government and the presidential administration. It is noted that Chuichenko is “the most logical candidate.”
On January 20, RBC wrote that the most likely candidate for the post of head of the Accounts Chamber is Deputy head of the presidential administration Dmitry Kozak. However, Vedomosti journalists found out that his candidacy is not being considered at the moment.
Russian legislation presupposes the presence of at least three candidates for the post of head of the Accounts Chamber proposed by the committees of the upper house of Parliament, of which the President chooses one. One of the main tasks of the authority is to monitor the targeted and effective use of federal budget funds, as well as the budgets of state extra-budgetary funds.
The former chairman of the Accounts Chamber Alexey Kudrin left the position at the end of November 2022. Kudrin’s new place of work was Yandex, where he took the position of corporate development advisor. In the company, Kudrin will develop the corporate structure of the new holding — according to him, it should “ensure the long-term and sustainable development of the company in all markets, including international ones.”
