At a ski hut in the Austrian Tyrol, an employee threatened his colleagues with a knife and a gas pressure revolver. A special police unit arrived on Thursday night with a gondola lift to the hut in the Wilder Kaiser ski area near Westendorf because the site could not be reached by road vehicles, as the Tyrolean police reported.
The heavily intoxicated 31-year-old suspect was asleep in his bed when officers arrived to arrest him, sources said. The other employees had previously brought themselves to safety in a room. A police officer from the German Press Agency said there were no winter vacationers in the hut during the nightly incident. The police assume that the situation at the hut escalated because of a relationship conflict and because of the alcohol.
