British police have arrested a 60-year-old man at Heathrow Airport in London for possession of uranium.
British police have arrested a suspect after a uranium find at London’s Heathrow Airport. As the police announced on Sunday, the approximately 60-year-old man was arrested in the county of Cheshire in north-west England on the basis of British terrorism law and released on bail.
A small amount of uranium was found in a package at Heathrow Airport in December. According to the tabloid The Sun, which first reported on the find, the package, which had come from Pakistan, had arrived in the UK on a flight from Oman.
Police in London continue to see no direct threat to the public, Metropolitan Police Counter-Terrorism Director Richard Smith said. The arrest and the previous investigation results would not have changed that.
