Trigema boss Wolfgang Grupp is demanding tax cuts from the federal government for employees who continue to work beyond the regular retirement age. “Employees who want to work longer should be tax-privileged after retirement age,” said Grupp to “Bild am Sonntag”. It makes no sense that mini-jobs in retirement are tax-free, but longer employment with the main employer is not.
Grupp employs 1,200 people in his Swabian textile company and generally offers them employment beyond the regular age limit: “Anyone can work for me as long as they want! If someone is over 35 or 40 years old, then that is a good worker. I’m happy about everyone who then tells me I’ll be stuck with it for a few more years.”
According to Grupp, the possibility of continued employment is also a contribution against the shortage of skilled workers: “Especially now that we have a shortage of workers in society, such an offer is a matter of course for me. But apparently this is an exception today.” Grupp was convinced that more employees at Trigema “would stick around for a few more years if they had tax advantages as a result”.
