According to a poll, two-thirds of core voters surveyed feel their interests are underrepresented in government.
According to a survey, the image of the FDP as an important client party for small and medium-sized businesses has suffered serious damage in the traffic light coalition. Two thirds of the citizens (67 percent) as well as the FDP emigrants (68 percent) and even three quarters of the self-employed (75 percent) blame Christian Lindner’s party for not sufficiently protecting the interests of its middle-class core voters in the federal government measures. This is the result of a representative survey by the opinion research institute Forsa on behalf of the editorial network Germany (RND). Among the FDP supporters, 47 percent think that the party should do more for craftsmen, small business owners, freelancers and executives.
42 percent of FDP supporters believe that the coalition of SPD, Greens and FDP will break up before the end of the 2025 legislative period. Only 13 percent of the Greens and 15 percent of the SPD share this opinion. 43 percent of all respondents see the ability of the traffic light to govern as a result of the nuclear dispute between the FDP and the Greens, and 33 percent expect the coalition to break up.
Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s word of power to allow all three of the last nuclear reactors to continue running until mid-April 2023 instead of just two of them – as the Greens wanted – is more in line with the ideas of the FDP according to 62 percent of all respondents. The party had insisted that all three reactors be left online until 2024. “Ideological obstinacy” is blamed by 59 percent of all respondents on the Greens.
The majority of respondents (57 percent) blame the federal FDP for the party’s losses in the state elections this year. At least 40 percent of the FDP supporters themselves share this view. 54 percent, on the other hand, see the reasons in the state of the respective national associations.
Forsa interviewed 1009 people for the editorial network Germany (RND) from October 21 to 24. The statistical error tolerance is plus/minus three percentage points.
