The fighting is currently taking place mainly in southern Ukraine. But now the Russians are also securing areas in the east, such as in the small town of Hirske.
Outside the borders of the town of Hirske in eastern Ukraine, Russian soldiers have drawn a defensive line.
However, this anti-tank installation is far removed from the current course of the front. The town of Hirske is about 25 kilometers from Lysychansk, which is under Russian control. The front currently runs a good 50 kilometers from Bachmut. From there the Russians attack.
Photos by the satellite operator Maxar show images of small white concrete pyramids intended to block the path for Ukrainian tanks.
According to “CNN”, the real fortress consists of four rows of pyramids, behind which is a moat. Additional satellite imagery from the European Space Agency reveals how the trenching was carried out: the first trench was dug on September 25, and the second section between September 30 and October 5.
The Russian media company Zvedza TV called the line of concrete pyramids “Wagner Line”, in reference to the Wagner mercenary group. It is a “second line of defense” if Ukrainian soldiers attempt to invade the area.

Already in September, the Ukrainians made large gains in these areas. However, the line’s 1.6-kilometer length could lead Ukrainians to simply bypass the facility. CNN reports on a Russian tabloid that published a map purporting to show that the Wagner group intends to expand this “line” further.
So far that it is supposed to stretch from the Russian-Ukrainian border east to Kreminna and then south to Svitlodarsk. CNN estimates that such a line would then be around 217 kilometers long. So far, no other buildings can be seen on other satellite images along the possible planned line.
