The recently published investigative book “Confidence Man” is making headlines in the USA: In addition to vulgar nicknames given by Donald Trump, the book reveals the deep spite of the former US President. Angela Merkel does not get off well with Trump either.
“That bitch” was reportedly Donald Trump’s nickname for Angela Merkel. This emerges from the recently published “Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America”. But Trump also insulted his son-in-law and former British Prime Minister Teresa May. The former president also refused to use the same toilet as his predecessor, Barack Obama, according to the new tell-all book.
While countless books have been written about Trump, the recent release of “Confidence Man” is said to infuriate him in particular. After all, Trump had a personal relationship with the Pulitzer Prize-winning author for a long time. For many years he was in close contact with the renowned New York Times journalist. “I love her,” he once said of Maggie Haberman – also known as the “Trump Whisperer”. Trump himself referred to her as “my psychiatrist”. He gave Haberman several lengthy interviews for the biography. Today he calls her book “fake”. But many revelations from “Confidence Man” make headlines in the USA.
Now save articles for later in “Pocket”.
In front of others, he often referred to Angela Merkel as “that bitch”. Trump is also said to have massively insulted other high-ranking politicians. He called then-Senate leader Mitch McConnell “a piece of shit” – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis a “whiny” and “fat”. At his first meeting with the British Prime Minister at the time, he also used an unusually rough choice of words for government circles: “Imagine these tattooed animals would rape your daughter and then she would be pregnant,” Trump said to Teresa May in a conversation about abortion rights.

Physically much too thin and “juicy and powerless”, however, Trump apparently finds his son-in-law. In any case, he is said to regularly insult Jared Kushner: “His voice sounds like a child”, Trump scolded after a speech by Kushner. And his daughter Ivanka’s plan to go camping with her husband Jared and their children seemed downright absurd to Trump: “Can you imagine Jared and his skinny butt camping? Like a scene from ‘Deliverance’.”
Trump hummed the tune from the 1972 film in which a tourist was brutally raped while on vacation in the country. In addition, Trump often complained about Kushner’s “fucking Shabbat” and wondered out loud whether the devout Jew might just be too lazy to work on Saturdays. According to Confidence Man, Trump also came close to firing Jared and Ivanka via Twitter after meeting his chief of staff. Both exercised unofficial advisory functions.
Donald Trump also thought little of Barack Obama. He refused to use the same toilet as his predecessor. He therefore wanted to have the entire room in the White House renovated. But in the end, according to “Confidence Man”, only the toilet seat was replaced. Finally, the most important change was equipping the toilet room with an extensive collection of various hairsprays. Haberman’s book also shows various photos of documents with Trump’s handwriting in said toilet bowl: apparently the former president wanted to flush them down.
Haberman describes a meeting after his inauguration in 2017 in which Trump treated black Democratic politicians like servants and asked them to bring him canapes and sandwiches. Trump also mistook Health Commissioner Brett Giroir’s medical uniform for a military uniform. When Giroir briefed the President on Mexican drug facilities, Trump repeatedly suggested bombing the facilities in Mexico. Trump advisers then asked Giroir to stop wearing professional attire in the White House.
After his Covid recovery, Trump planned to appear in the Superman shirt. Many Americans still have Trump’s return from the hospital in mind: With triumphant gestures, he tore the mask off his face. “In this, Trump was inspired by soul singer James Brown, he told his advisers,” Haberman said. “Trump loved the way Brown ripped his jacket off on stage.” In addition, Trump wanted to unbutton his shirt and reveal a Superman T-shirt underneath. He commissioned his assistant Max Miller to go to the neighboring state of Virginia specifically to buy the Superman shirt.
