In Judaism, Yom Kippur has been celebrated since yesterday – it is the highest Jewish holiday. Reason for a congratulatory post, thought the Hesse SPD.
The comrades shared a corresponding post on Facebook. However, they made an embarrassing mistake, as reported by “Bild”.
Because the post showed the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem as a photo. Although this is on the Temple Mount, it is one of the main Islamic shrines and the oldest monumental sacred building in Islam.
Dozens of critical comments rained down on Facebook. “Once again, the image accompanying this text just shows zero competence at work here,” someone wrote, or, “One of the most important Jewish holidays and you illustrate it with the Islamic iconography of triumph over Judaism.”
On Wednesday morning, the SPD deleted the post – but by then it had already been online for more than 12 hours. A little later, the SPD officially apologized for the mistake.
The press spokesman and head of public relations, Christoph Gering, took responsibility for the error. “Where exactly in the press office, for which I am responsible, the checking and control mechanisms that are supposed to prevent incidents like this did not work is irrelevant for the public discussion. The only thing that is certain is that something incredibly stupid happened to us, for which we are rightly criticized.”
After the death of the Queen, Prince William is the new Duke of Cornwall. Among other things, he controls the country estate of King Charles III. He pays his own son about 800,000 euros a year for rent.
