Long-distance rail transport has evidently benefited greatly from the introduction of the nine-euro ticket. The industry achieved record sales in July, the month in which cheap tickets for regional transport were introduced, as reported by the Federal Statistical Office in Wiesbaden on Tuesday. Compared to the previous month, income almost doubled.
According to the information, the entire service sector has posted a solid plus so far this summer. Passenger transport in aviation achieved by far the highest increase in sales of all areas covered: Real sales almost quadrupled in June 2022 compared to the same month in the previous year. However, it did not reach the level of June 2019, i.e. before the corona pandemic.
The sales of the trade fair, exhibition and congress organizers also increased sharply and tripled in comparison to the previous year. According to the Federal Statistical Office, the pre-crisis level was even exceeded here. The situation was similar for travel agencies and tour operators.
