The tank discount ends in less than a week. Millions of people in Germany will then have to reckon with shock prices at the pump again. But the state support is already fizzled out completely. The prices are rising sharply. FOCUS online says where more than 2.30 euros is required for diesel.
In southern Germany in particular, prices are currently spiraling upwards.
The ADAC confirms: The price differences when filling up between the German federal states are increasing.
In Bavaria, motorists already have to reckon with diesel prices of over 2.30 euros per liter on Wednesday morning. Prices for petrol are even higher than 1.90 euros per liter.
For example, drivers at Agip pay a whopping 2.37 euros for a liter of diesel and 2.14 euros for a liter of Super at the rest area in Vaternstetten near Munich. At the OMV petrol station on the A9 near the Fuhrholzen exit, a liter of diesel even costs 2.41 euros. This is the result of official figures from the Market Transparency Office for Fuels.
But extortionate prices for diesel and petrol are also being asked in the cities.
In a Munich Esso gas station in the city of Westend, drivers paid 2.14 euros for a liter of diesel, and there was a liter of Super for a whopping 1.94 euros. In a significantly cheaper V-Markt filling station, consumers in the Giesing city area had to pay 2.08 euros for diesel and 1.87 euros for petrol.
Drivers currently pay more than 2.10 euros for a liter of diesel in Ingolstadt, Nuremberg, Augsburg, Fürth and Regensburg. In Stuttgart, too, drivers are confronted with rising prices. At an Aral gas station, 2.19 euros were called for a liter of diesel. For Super 1.94 euros per liter are due.
According to the comparison portal Tankerkönig, the national average for diesel was €2.03 per liter. For petrol 1.81 euros are due.
Diesel is cheaper in Berlin (around 1.88 euros per liter), in Hamburg (around 1.91 euros per liter), in Lower Saxony (around 1.92 euros per liter) and in Schleswig-Holstein (around 1.96 euros). per liter).
However, the same applies here: The first petrol stations are already asking for prices of over 2 euros for a liter of diesel or petrol.
The oil industry association en2x had already reported bottlenecks in the gas station supply in the south last week. The background is the current drought, which is causing the Rhine level to continue to fall. In Emmerich, just before the Dutch border, the level reached a historic low of four centimeters at the beginning of the week.
“Petroleum products are plentiful, but we face major challenges in transporting gasoline, diesel or heating oil to destinations at the right time and in sufficient quantities.”
Jürgen Ziegner, Managing Director of the Central Association of the Gas Station Industry, says that the Rhine is the decisive transport route for supplying southern Germany for the industry. Gasoline or diesel could not be transported in sufficient quantities by rail or truck. “The logistics are not designed for that. We have the Rhine for that.”
According to an assessment by the ADAC, the low water level is not the only reason for the extreme price differences. The automobile association emphasizes that the Federal Cartel Office should carry out more targeted investigations here.
Measured against crude oil prices and the current euro and dollar exchange rates, the prices at the gas station are currently significantly inflated.
Brent crude oil barrels are down to $92 from the previous week and have been below $100 since early August. According to ADAC, there is considerable potential for price reductions for this reason.
Drivers can still benefit from the fuel discount until August 31st. After that, households will have to reckon with more than two euros per liter of petrol or diesel again.
