In countries like the USA, cameras installed permanently in the car have long been common practice, while many in this country shy away from installing a dash cam. It’s really that simple.
Traffic in Germany is generally increasing rather than decreasing, and this is particularly true during the holiday season. Being on the road by car also means an increased risk of accidents – even if you are not guilty of anything. A camera permanently installed in the car can help to clarify the question of who caused the accident. If the image material is recorded in accordance with the legal requirements and the quality is good enough, it can also be accepted as evidence in court. For this purpose, however, the so-called dashcams must be optimally attached and ideally permanently installed above the vehicle fuse box. However, many drivers shy away from attaching it because of the technical complexity. It’s so easy.
You don’t even need to do it yourself to install a dashcam. For example, the specialist store and workshop chain ATU (Auto-Teile-Unger), in cooperation with Germany’s dashcam market leader Nextbase, is offering a professional installation of the car camera at a special price throughout August. For 169.99 euros, customers receive a Nextbase 322GW including a suitable SD card, the permanently installed cable set and the installation service from ATU. This means that vehicle owners can have the dashcam installed by the workshop professionals in such a way that the camera is optimally aligned and no loose or visible cables are hanging around. Even after the installation, ATU is on hand with help and advice and promises its customers support for everything to do with the camera in the car.
“ATU is one of the most trustworthy companies in Germany. A reputation that the company has worked hard to earn over the years with first-class vehicle services,” says Stefan Zeltner, Head of Sales Germany at Nextbase, who is pleased about the cooperation with Germany’s most well-known workshop chain. People there like to return the praise, like Alexander Martin, Category Manager Transport
The bundle offered by ATU includes the 322GW, a high-quality dashcam with a resolution of 1,980 x 1,080 pixels – and at 60 frames per second. Because it also has a viewing angle of 140°, drivers can be sure that the camera always has everything important in view. It is operated via a 2.5-inch touchscreen, while the filmed material is recorded on a 32-gigabyte SD memory card included in the bundle. An automated emergency call mode integrated into the camera is also able to guide the emergency services to the right location.
The G-force sensor is also great, with the help of which the camera moves the associated video material to a write-protected folder in the event of an impact. Drivers can choose between three levels of sensitivity, as soon as the ignition is switched off, the sensitivity of the sensor increases further and detects even finer vibrations. All of this is coupled with an updated Google Maps function, which means that data such as speed and the readings of the G-sensor can be transmitted to the insurance company in an emergency.
This increases the safety of drivers who behave in accordance with the rules and are still involved in an accident. With the so-called loop recording, the video sequences are only recorded as required. This means that the recorded recordings are always overwritten. The recording is only saved permanently when the G-sensor detects a shock. The material created in this way is therefore generally admissible as evidence in court and is also recognized by insurance companies. And that for around 170 euros at a price that the 322GW has previously cost individually – without installation and SD card. The action bundle from ATU and Nextbase thus offers the best dashcam experience and is still available at all ATU workshops in Germany until August 31st.
