A lot is coming up in August 2022. The 9-euro ticket expires and a follow-up offer is being discussed. In addition, the Bafög rate for students is to be increased. There is another change for employees in community and medical facilities. They need a measles vaccination from August.
Anyone born after 1970 who comes into contact with other people in community and medical facilities must provide proof of measles vaccination by July 31, 2022. This also applies to cleaning staff or craftsmen who work in medical practices, clinics or schools, for example. The Measles Protection Act has been in force in Germany since March 1, 2020. The aim is to protect particularly vulnerable groups of people and society as a whole from the dangerous and highly contagious measles virus.
“Affected are employees who were born after 1970 and come into contact with other people in community and health facilities. According to the law, a person is required to be vaccinated as soon as they work regularly over a longer period of time in a facility specified in the law, for example in a hospital or doctor’s office. This also includes cleaning companies,” explains Anette Wahl-Wachendorf, specialist in occupational medicine and medical director of the occupational health service of the trade association for the construction industry (AMD der BG BAU).
By July 31, 2022, affected persons must present their vaccination certificate. From August 1st, they will not be allowed to continue working in the respective facility without vaccination protection.

According to the information, 3697 people aged 18 and over were interviewed on July 19.
