Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky asked French President Emmanuel Macron to help unlock macro-financial assistance for Kiev. We are talking about 9 billion euros, Moskovsky Komsomolets reports.
This follows from the address of the President of Ukraine to the citizens of the country. Zelensky said he had spoken on the phone with Macron. During the conversation, he asked the French president to assist in unblocking funds that are “stuck” in the European Union.
The Head of Ukraine noted that 9 billion euros are not trifles for the country, “but important social payments.” The funds should be used for payments to pensioners, salaries, as well as support for displaced persons.
“Therefore, we expect appropriate decisions from specific statesmen,” the Ukrainian leader said.
According to the latest information, Ukraine has received the first tranche of 500 million euros as part of the macro-financial assistance of the European Union, the second tranche of the first package of 1 billion euros is expected on August 2. As stated by the Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal, the funds will help in financing the priority budget needs. In total, the country will receive 9 billion euros from the EU.
