According to Sergey Lavrov, Russia’s geographical goals are no longer limited to the Donbass. According to the Russian foreign minister, Western arms deliveries in particular could accelerate an escalation of the war.
Russia’s geographic goals are no longer limited to the Donbass. Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told the Russian news agency Ria. They already affect a number of other areas, Lavrov explains, and threatens to expand them further. If the West were to deliver long-range weapons to the leadership in Kyiv, geographical targets in Ukraine would be expanded even more.
Which cities or regions in Ukraine Lavrov means specifically remains unclear. On the other hand, it is clear that the arms deliveries from the West are intended to justify the expansion of the Russian plans to conquer Russia. Since the West is unlikely to stop its support in the form of arms deliveries, it can be assumed that Russia’s war targets in the Ukraine war will now be primarily in southern Ukraine. That should include an attempt to capture the all-important port city of Odessa.
