Because of the looming energy crisis and Russia’s energy dependency, there is a debate in Germany about extending the lifetime of nuclear power plants. On the one hand, the Union and the governing party, the FDP, are demanding the continued use of nuclear power. On the other hand, the Greens and the SPD continue to reject this. The (still) Green politician Boris Palmer, however, speaks out in favor of continued use for the first time. The Lord Mayor of Tübingen, whose party membership is currently suspended during an exclusion process, can imagine extending the lifetime of the nuclear power plants.
He told the “Bild” newspaper: “Everything that helps you get through the winter well shouldn’t be taboo. Coal or nuclear power – that’s not important to me this winter. It is crucial that the industry is not shut down, that it can continue to produce. And three months longer nuclear power can also be right.”
According to Palmer, the phase-out of nuclear power is primarily about a long-term phase-out. For him, a few months longer nuclear power plants would be a good compromise.
Horror over the Atlantic: A holiday airline from Eurowings Discover had to go on an emergency descent on Sunday morning and then make an emergency landing. Apparently, the incident went off lightly.
Fatal accident in Wächtering in the district of Donau-Ries: Two amateur footballers from TSV Rain/Lech crash into a tree on the way back from an away game because they want to avoid a wide tractor. The tractor driver himself does not notice the accident.
Tyler Herro stands out. The young NBA player of the Miami Heat wears funky clothes, often bright colors, there are no taboos. Now the basketball player shows a new tattoo. The reactions to it are almost exclusively negative.
