Bernie Ecclestone faces fraud charges in the UK. It’s about false information from the 91-year-old ex-Formula 1 boss about an immense foreign fortune that has been discovered.
Ecclestone concealed millions: Former Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone has been charged with fraud, the Daily Mirror reported on Monday, citing a statement from the British public prosecutor. The charges follow investigations by the tax authority into known foreign assets of the 91-year-old of more than 400 million pounds (almost 473 million euros), about which he made false statements.
Charges of tax fraud: According to chief investigator Simon York, the charges against Ecclestone “are the result of a complex and global criminal investigation.” The charges refer to “probable tax liabilities” arising from the concealed foreign assets.

Ecclestone scandals: Ecclestone has already been involved in a number of scandals. In 2014, for example, he had to answer to the Munich I Regional Court for bribing a public official, but the proceedings were dropped against the payment of a condition of 100 million dollars. Most recently, Ecclestone caused confusion about statements regarding Russian President Vladimir Putin.
