The less you work, the more time you have for family, friends and other pleasures in life. But those who work less usually also have less money in their accounts to be able to afford the finer things in life. Some therefore choose the model of a 30-hour week. And some can still earn above average.
The job platform Stepstone has compiled job profiles for the “Handelsblatt” in which the annual salary is more than 60,000 euros – with only 30 hours of work per week. The average salary for full-time employees in Germany is around 44,000 euros. The following overview shows that less is sometimes more. Despite part-time work, these jobs earn more than the average.

As an in-house lawyer, i.e. as a lawyer who works for a company, you can earn an average of 70,000 euros gross per year with a 30-hour work week. The in-house lawyers who work in the banking sector fare best in this category. According to Stepstone, they come to 74,950 euros. That is around 26,000 euros more than an average income for full-time employment in Germany. In-house lawyers in the metal industry form the lower limit with 72,000 euros.
In the project management area, an average of 66,200 euros can be fetched part-time. Top part-time earners can be found here with 70,000 euros in the vehicle industry. Project managers in wholesale and retail earn 65,400 euros. The income also increases depending on the size of the company. With 1001 to 500 employees up to 68,000 euros are possible.

According to the Stepstone report, controllers in energy and water supply can earn up to 72,000 euros part-time. In the chemical and petroleum industry it is slightly less: 67,800 euros. The average in this job profile is 66,000 euros. With professional experience of six to ten years, you start at 65,000 euros.
Recruitment is a hot topic these days, not only in Germany. Personnel planning is therefore of particular importance. But those who only work part-time here can earn an average of 66,000 euros. In the area of mechanical and plant engineering, there are even up to 82,903 euros. That is almost twice as high as the average full-time earner in this country. Around 80,000 euros are also up for grabs in the IT sector. In general, employees in the HR department with a company size of 10,001 or more employees can earn up to 72,000 euros in a 30-hour week.
Tax consultants with a few years of professional experience can earn an average of EUR 65,500 part-time. Top part-time earners can be found here with around 72,500 euros in the financial sector. There are 65,500 for 30 hours of work in management consulting.
Without an accountant, little works in the private sector. According to Stepstone, an average of 60,460 euros is possible for 30 hours a week. In the real estate industry, up to 60,000 euros are possible, with professional experience of eleven to 25 years, 3000 euros can be added on top.
Employees in product management earn an average salary of 63,000 euros for a 30-hour week, even up to 80,000 euros if they work in the IT industry. The same income is possible with a company size of 5001 to 10,000 employees. However, anyone with less than ten years of professional experience “only” gets around 59,000 euros.
