Russian oligarch Dmitry Pumpyansky’s luxury yacht is up for auction. The “Axioma” is thus the first ship that probably changes hands due to sanctions against Russia and its elite.
73 meters long, worth 75 million US dollars and has been locked in the port of Gibraltar since March – now the luxury yacht of the Russian oligarch Dmitrij Pumpjanskij is to be auctioned off. This is reported by the “Esysman Superyachts” YouTube channel, citing the “Gibraltar Chronicle”.
Actually, frozen assets cannot simply be sold, but the “Axioma” is a special case: the US bank JPMorgan has approved a loan of 20.5 million euros for the oligarch, or rather his shell company Pyrene Investments. Because of the sanctions against him, Pumpiansky cannot repay them. It is a breach of the loan agreement. The bank now has the right to sell the vessel to cover the loan, by order of the Gibraltar High Court.
Pumpianski is the boss of the largest Russian pipeline manufacturer TMK. The EU and Great Britain have sanctions against him. Gibraltar is a British exclave.
Twelve guests and 20 crew members can be accommodated on board the luxurious “Axioma”. She has four decks, six cabins, two pools, a 3D cinema, a sauna and a gym. She could be chartered for 475,000 euros a week. Celebrities like Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber were already on board.
